Believer's Baptism
Believers Baptism is a public confession of faith in Jesus Christ and obedience to follow Him in what is called Believer's Baptism. At FaithWay Bible Baptist Church, we uphold baptism as a vital step in a believer's journey, symbolizing the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This sacred act declares publicly one's faith in Christ and commitment to live under His grace.
Core Beliefs About Believers Baptism:
Before being baptized, it is crucial to understand the motives behind it and ensure your heart is rightly prepared. At FaithWay Bible Baptist Church, we emphasize three fundamental motives for baptism: Obedience, Love, and Joy!
By approaching baptism with obedience, love, and joy, and ensuring it is performed in the correct biblical order, you align your actions with the heart of Christian discipleship.
A Commandment for Believers
Baptism is not just a symbolic act but a commandment for all who believe in Christ. As one of the two ordinances given to the church, it is a crucial act of obedience that Jesus Himself participated in, setting the example for all His followers. In order to grow in Christ, every Christian must obey God in Believer's Baptism.
Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:38, Romans 6:3-4
Galatians 3:27; 1 Peter 3:21
After Salvation Only
One cannot follow in Believer's Baptism until after salvation (putting their faith in Jesus Christ). Any baptism performed before salvation is not Biblically supported. Therefore, baptism is the next step of obedience for the new believer in Christ.
Acts 2:38, Acts 8:12;
Acts 8:36-37; Mark 16:15-16
By Immersion Only
Baptism can only be performed in one way. In the Bible no one was ever baptized except by immersion of the body under water. The very word "baptism" literally means "to immerse." Nowhere in the Bible is there any other method of baptism performed.
Matthew 3:16; Acts 8:38-39;
Romans 6:4 Colossians 2:12
Baptism is Not Salvation
You are not saved because you were baptized. Salvation is by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is an outward confession of an inward change, a public declaration that you have already placed their trust in Christ and is committed to following Him.

Romans 10:9-10; 1 Peter 3:21; Acts 16:31
